Top 5 Personal Development Books Every Woman Needs in 2020

As much as I’d love to claim that I’m a big reader, my reading progress so far this year (or lack there of) would beg to differ. I have yet to complete ONE book this year. It’s not because I don’t have time (because as we learned in this post we ALL have time), but I think it’s more so that I am less interested at this point in my life in reading for pleasure. Basically right now, if a book isn’t teaching me something worthwhile, I do not want to read it. I love learning from people’s writing because I feel as though I’m being personally mentored by someone who genuinely wants me to succeed. Although that is not ALWAYS the case, for the most part, a lot of the authors I’ve seen lately really have a desire to teach others things that it’s taken them some time and effort to learn. Through my writing, connecting and researching I have gathered a rather large list of articles, blogs and books that I desire to …

So…People had a lot to say about my mental health post.

To say I was anything but surprised on the amount of feedback I got from my latest post would be lying. People loved it. It’s crazy because I was so hesitant to talk about this topic for many reasons, but I’m glad I did. There’s something about the human condition that uses the struggles that we all face to connect us. It gives us a community of people who relate to the fact that we all have something we’re going through. We’re all warriors earning our badges throughout this life and when we realize that we can shift the focus from ourselves and instead support each other. I think that’s pretty amazing. I made a video addressing the feedback I received. It’s on YouTube and you can find it by clicking here. I have a bunch of other videos on YouTube as well, but this is definitely one I’m proud of simply due to the amount of effort it took for a quick “thanks for loving on me” post. I’m also pretty proud of this …

Don’t Run. Fight. Be Brave.

Transparency post. I’m never as brave as I look. I have to remind myself constantly that it’s okay to be fearful, but that fearfulness is not an exscuse for stagnancy. My tendency when things catch me off guard, stress my beyond comprehension or scare me is to hide or run away from the challenge. By hide, I don’t mean physically (at first), but I more so hide emotionally. I shut myself off to feelings and can become very clinical in my approach in an attempt to patch it up and remove it from my sight. I become a “1) what’s the problem 2) what’s the solution” type of person. People who aren’t familiar with me and how I handle stress (which is 98% of the population) will often celebrate this side of me because it’s effective. I get praised for having a small to non existent stress response or being able to maintain my cool under insane amounts of pressure, but inside I fully well know that what I’ve done on the inside to get …

Something Different

Hey friends! First of all I want to say thank you for the response to my recent post 4 months in. I deliberately stay away from sharing too many details of my actual life online simply because that can open one up to a lot of things, many of those things being negative things. You all have been so kind and lovely and supportive and it warmed my heart, so thanks again for being the greatest little crew. You guys rock! Now, for the news. I’ve been working pretty hard on something and I wanted to share it with you guys. I’ve been exploring the realm of vlogging editing and all of that jazz and wanted to share it with you all. This isn’t the whole thing, just a little teaser to whats on its way but feel free to check it out below:   The final video should be uploaded tonight or tomorrow, so keep an eye out! It’ll be posted on My Channel. Thanks AGAIN for being so amazing!

Practically in Love 1:3

Hey Friends! Thanks for popping in. This is part 3 of a little series that I’ve been doing. If you’d like to know what the series is about and it’s purpose check out my intro to the series Practically in Love here. Alright, part 3 here we go! Boundary setting is an act of love. For yourself yes, but also for others.  Why is it so important to set personal boundaries? Because it gives you space to think and to grow. Without proper boundaries, you open yourself up to distractions and to stressors that in the end tangle you up and can affect your ability to grow. Obviously some stressors are relatively unavoidable, but if we look closely at our lives and the things that leave us feeling  overly stretched and stressed, most of those things come from the inability to set boundaries around our time, commitments and involvement. Lets talk about gardening for a moment. Random? Not quite. There are plenty of people who are amazing at gardening. I, for one, am not one of …

Camera Confidence

I’m a blogger…obviously. That’s why you’re here. An aspect of blogging that I didn’t consider when I originally started was the importance of photography within your blog. Now, not everyone needs top-notch photography on their blog. It all depends on what exactly you are trying to brand. If you are branding your writing only, let’s say a poetry or creative writing, then photos may not be a priority of yours. If you’re branding yourself, your style, or a product of yours, great photography can place you on the same level as the top bloggers and get you the traffic that you need to create a bigger name for yourself. When I realized the importance of this for myself, since I am a blogger who is trying to brand herself, I became slightly overwhelmed for two reasons: I didn’t have access to photos that were any better than my shaky hand iPhone 6 photos, and I was not anywhere near comfortable being in front of a camera for an extended period of time. Luckily, I know …

Budget Friendly Date Ideas

We’ve all (or most of us) during our singleness have fantasized over the idea of being in a relationship. We’ve thought about date nights and made mental notes of places that would be super romantic to go with your significant other. Or, maybe that’s just me. I would always take small notes in my mind of places that could be fun to adventure with  someone I was dating; things that would be cool to try or places that would be cool to travel to. In my mind tho, the one thing I never considered was price. And why would I? Calculating the price of a romantic adventure completely takes the romance out of the adventure….right? In the moment, sure. But in reality considering your significant others finances (and your own) could be the most romantic thing you could do. In my perspective of dating, I’m aspiring to be with my person forever. That means that I’m not simply here to do extravagant fun things right now to document on Instagram (although those things are definitely …

You Asked: How to Spend Time with God Throughout Your Day

Hey Friends! Todays topic is one that was actually sent to me by one of you. I got a few requests as a result of a post I put out on twitter, but I really wanted to talk about this one first because its something that I am personally challenged with at this particular time in my life. Todays topic: How to spend time with God throughout your day. Now, those of you who identify yourselves as christians most likely know that you should be making time for God daily, if you didn’t, now you do. Most of us are pretty good at that. We wake up in the morning and open up our bible app. We wait for that welcome message at the top of our screen and for our daily streak number to register that yes, I have opened my bible app for the 147th time in a row (or maybe you’re like me and your on day 15…again…). Some of you may even end your day with some God time, praying and …

Thoughts on Singleness

Alright ladies. I am about to dive into a topic that I have heard discussed (and been a part of discussions about) for the majority of my young adult and teen life. Let’s talk about being single. First and foremost I am going to say something profound. Something that you may find controversial but bear with me, are you ready? Open your notes app….okay here it is: Your singleness is not a curse. Did you read that? Did you understand it? Read it once more to make sure. Okay. A little dramatic? Yea, maybe, but I do feel that this is something that needs to be repeated again and again and again and yes….again. The amount of time that I spend convincing women of all ages that singleness is actually not a documented disease and that people can actually survive and maybe…wait for it…thrive in their singleness astounds me. It astounds me, but I also understand it. Because I understand it is why I want to write about it. I’ve wanted to write about this …

Blessed

Hey Guys! So sorry it has been so long between posts. It has been such a crazy crazy end of the month (April) and unfortunately, the crazy hasn’t stopped yet. My whole family got the flu, then when I was supposed to be traveling to Atlanta I ended up home with the stomach flu. After that we moved (YAY) and have been settling in to our new home. Moving homes is way more complex as an adult than as a child haha. Still exciting, just a bit more complicated. And to top it all off this past weekend I got into my first ever car accident and it was a biggie. My car is a total wreck and my brain and body are still trying to put the pieces together as I recover physically (I’m a little beat up, but nothing too crazy) but mainly emotionally. This post isn’t about my accident tho, this post is about this woman I had the pleasure of celebrating a few days ago. The woman in the middle of my …
