planner on table opened up to November 2020 plan with me blog by Nicole Eva

So Long, October.

October’s end is quickly approaching and just like that it’s about to be the second to last month of 2020. Wow. I’m not usually taken by surprise when the end of the year approaches because, well, you expect it. There’s just been so much packed into the past 9 months that I feel like the last thing I’ve had the emotional capacity to think about was the end of the year. But, as we know, it comes whether you’re watching for it or not. October for me was a good month. This month makes 3 months married and I can finally say that I feel married. There are still some parts that feel brand new but for most of it I feel like we have adjusted pretty well to living together and sharing the same space. I think one of the most difficult adjustments so far has been simply figuring out how our normal individual schedules fit together. Between work, rest, sleep schedules, gym routines, creative work and recreation our schedules and ways of doing …

Things I want to Start Doing Immediately

I have a list. It’s a large one. It’s a list of things I want to start doing to better my life. Here’s my frustration though….it still a list. That’s frustrating because that means that I haven’t accomplished any of the things yet! Are you like me? Do you have a list, mentally or physically of things you want to do but haven’t? Things like, workout daily, or eat more greens? Maybe wake up earlier? How do we get rid of the list and just…do all of the things? I think I just answered it…we just have to do it. I’m home from work indefinitely. So what better a time than now to start turning that list into actions? Here are somethings I am going to take off of that list starting tomorrow and make into actions: Stretch Daily Core Exercise Daily Write Daily Instagram Story Daily Read Daily Start my Day With a Bottle of Water Daily Watch an Illustrator Tutorial Daily Read my Bible Daily There are soo many things I want to …

Spending Time Alone

Did you know that solo time is healthy? (all the introverts in the house said HECK YEAH). Really though, it is. Our world is loud, busy, overstimulated and full of interaction. Every once in a while it is healthy to take time away from the noise and spend sometime with yourself. There are benefits to spending time alone Solo time can actually increase your creativity It can increase your ability to feel empathy It can help us to regulate our emotions when going through a rough time It can help you identify truths within yourself (how you may really feel about a situation or circumstance) It can help you to get to know yourself better Spending time alone can even increase your mental strength So. What does one do when spending time alone? Do you have to stay home, close the blinds and sit in the dark? No. There’s a lot that you can do alone…like a lot. 5 Healthy Habits for Mental Wellness

Habits are defined as “routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously”. Naturally, because we are human, we have a tendency to easily pick up negative habits and hold onto them for dear life. These may be things we picked up over time such as binge eating salty snacks after a stressful day at work or biting your fingernails when you’re nervous. These negative habits are things we do that temporarily satisfy something in us even though they usually provide no measurable benefit. These also tend to be things that we are well aware that we need to be done and over with.  Did you know that it generally takes about 2 months to completely change a behavior? That means it generally only takes about two months to stop a bad habit or to introduce a positive one. …

5 Questions to ask Yourself in 2020

In my grandmother’s house in Barbados there’s a growth chart on the back of the door in the bedroom my brother and I stayed in as kids. In my childhood home there was also a growth chart tracking my height each year. As kids we’re kind of obsessed with checking our height. Have you ever watched kids stand next to one another and check to see who’s taller? Why are we like this? Because we aspire to see growth. Growth is how we know we’re on the right track. Growth is how we determine that we’re not standing still. It’s early, but I think its time for a 2020 growth check. Now, I’m fully aware that it’s been less than a month of 2020 and that all of our wildest dreams and hoped for accomplishments are nowhere near complete. But, there are ways to measure yourself now in the beginning, when it’s hardest, to make sure you’re on the right path. Here are 5 questions to ask your self to determine your growth in 2020. …

Why Im Choosing MORE Social Media for 2020

A lot of people have made it a “resolution” this year to spend significantly less time on social media. This year I plan on spending MORE time on social media…here’s why. A few blog posts ago I mentioned how I didn’t set up any New Years resolutions because I’m kind of over the stress and over hype-ness of the new year new me stuff (missed it? check that post out here). I also stated how I already have goals and things that I’m working on right now and that those goals are well on their way (additional reasoning why I don’t need a plethora of new goals this year). One of those goals is this right here: My blog. I’ve been writing consistently on this page for about a year and a half. I’ve made my writing public for about 6 months and I’ve been writing in general (in journals, on the internet, on other medias) for 22 years. This year is the year for this space to take off. I’m ready for it. In …

My 2020 Stop Doing List

I want to take a different approach to the way I engage with the upcoming new year. In previous years I did the usual thing; I set new goals, added new items to my “do these things to be successful” list and set an ideal weight to strive towards. Although it’s been semi successful, I’m kind of over it. I’m over the updated list of new things to track and maybe accomplish that simply leave me feeling overwhelmed and disappointed if it doesn’t work out. My new approach? A list of things I want to stop doing in 2020. As far as my life goes, I’m doing pretty okay. My overall goals are well on their way to being accomplished and to be honest, I don’t need any new ones right now. What I do need to start doing, is making time and saving energy for the things in my life that matter and bring me joy. In order to do that I need to stop doing things that simply fill up time and take …

Social Media – How to Plan Creative Content for Instagram

Social media content planning is a process. Some people get it right away and need no outside help while others get lost on the way to inspiration constantly. I tend to be the latter. That being said, over the past few months I’ve come up with a system that works pretty well for me with Instagram. (when I decide to use it) and I figured it may be a good idea to share with some of you! Social media is a great way to connect with not only the people you interact with daily, but it’s a great way to interact with businesses, business owners and people with likeminded interests and goals. With some social media (specifically instagram) It’s hard to do that however (mainly because the algorithm won’t let people know you exist) if your social media isn’t consistent, trendy (to a point) or attractive. I can’t promise to help specifically make your instagram trendy or attractive, but what I can do is share my method with you and hope that by making it …
